About the Method and Inquiry

1 Purpose

The Method and Inquiry is a public, citable resource library for research methods in the social sciences. It covers both methodological and theoretical topics — research design, literature review, epistemology, experiments — and practical implementation topics — R programming, data cleaning, visualization, regression analysis.

The hub is designed to serve students at the BA, MA, and PhD levels. Resources are written to be reusable across different courses and contexts, not tied to any single course or syllabus.

2 Editorial model

The hub is edited by Claudius Gräbner-Radkowitsch. As editor, he is responsible for maintaining consistency, quality, and scope across all pages.

Future contributors who write resource pages appear as the author of those pages. Claudius remains the editor, reflecting editorial responsibility for the hub as a whole.

3 How to cite resources

Every resource page auto-generates a citation block at the bottom of the page. To cite a resource, copy the citation shown there.

The general format is:

[Author Last, First]. ([Year]). “[Page Title].” In Method and Inquiry, edited by Claudius Gräbner-Radkowitsch. [URL]

You can also export citations in BibTeX or other formats from the citation block on each page.

4 Independence from courses

The Method and Inquiry is independent of any single course. Courses taught by Claudius and others may link into the hub for specific resources, but the hub itself is not a course companion. Its resources are written as general-purpose references that remain useful regardless of where a student encounters them.

See Teaching for an index of courses that use the hub.

5 Feedback and evolving character of the hub

This hub is a work in progress and gets updated and extended regularly. Therefore, feedback is especially welcome. I value all of your thoughts, be it praise of criticism. Please use the Github Issue Tracker to give feedback of any sort.1
